"It's very hard to lose a pet. The last one I lost, I think I cried for six weeks. I loved my dog so much. They're like family." A founding volunteer, Forever Home Cemetery

Forever Home Cemetery is a project of the Humane Society of Logan County, Illinois, laid out across about two acres on the shelter's grounds and planned for more than 1,200 plots over several phases. Dreamed up by shelter volunteers in 2011 and approved by the City of Lincoln in 2012, it was envisioned as a dignified final resting place for people and the pets they loved, with its proceeds helping support the shelter and keep the grounds cared for, and a gazebo at its center for memorial services and gatherings.
