Brock, HSLC's 12 year old male black lab mix, was adopted. He joins a household in which most of the animals have been adopted from HSLC. There was immediate acceptance from the other dogs, but the doggy door was a challenge. Coming in from the outside was okay, but going from the inside to the outside was a whole different matter. After many, many attempts, he decided he could do it, and he walked through the doggy door when the real door was being held open. He has arrived! All is well.

Lucky, HSLC's orange tabby male cat, was adopted Saturday. Lucky's name fit him because he went to the right home for help when he was injured, and the kind people who lived there took him to the vet who took out his eye and allowed him to live. His new forever home has changed his name to Odin. They said Odin was a one-eyed Norse god. His new "mother" wanted a cat who would cuddle, and Lucky is definitely a cuddler!

Hershey, HSLC's male black lab puppy, now known as Hazard, was adopted Saturday. He joins a family made up of four children ages 17 through 5 years, so he will have plenty of playmates. And, he has a four year old lab already in the home to teach him all he needs to know. To make matters better, the yard is fenced so he can really run.
HSLC's male boxer mix, Tucker, and female heeler mix, Riley, were adopted this afternoon. Both Tucker and Riley will retain their names. Their new family is a young couple, and Tucker and Riley are their first dogs. Both "parents" are runners, so lots of exercise is in their future along with a fenced in back yard so they can play with each other. They are two good dogs who deserve a great forever home.

HSLC's five year old black cat, Magic, was adopted Monday morning. She had lived in the shelter eight months, but today she went to her forever home. Magic will be "entertained" by three children ages eight to three, so she will be a busy cat! She now lives about an hour from the shelter, so she started her new life by taking a road trip.
Frankie, HSLC's male gray tabby cat was adopted. Frankie was not at the shelter very long until his forever home came looking and found him. He is eight months old, and his new "brother" is a year and a half old, so Frankie will have a playmate. When the door to the cat room was opened, he came out and readily climbed into the carrier ready to go to his new home.....cool, as always!
HSLC's four month old wonderful terrier mix puppy was adopted today. ROSIE is almost a perfect dog, and her new home is very, very fortunate to have her become part of the family. There are grandchildren who occasionally visit, so Rosie will have playmates, but her new "parents" will have to provide activity when they are not there. Rosie is a delight, and her new "mother" was anxious to take her to her forever home.
JAX, HSLC's nine month old male bloodhound mix, was adopted early Saturday afternoon. His forever home has three children ranging in age from 9 years to 9 months old. Jax's adoption was timed to be a surprise birthday present for the daughter. She was promised a dog when they bought a house. And, after a year in their home, she would not let them forget their promise. So, Jax went home Saturday afternoon to a very surprised and happy birthday girl.
ETHEL, HSLC's beagle mix puppy, was adopted Saturday morning. She is now know as Jade, and she joins a family consisting of a mother, father, three children, and a shih tzu. The older dog may not want to play as much as Jade, but the family will be sure she gets lots and lots of play time. The mother said Jade already has more "stuff" than she needs. She definitely will get her share of attention.
