Want to make a shelter dog's day? Date with a Dog gives approved volunteers a few hours off shelter grounds with an adoptable dog — a walk at the park, a pup cup, a car ride, exploring a pet-friendly spot, or just hanging out. Photos from your date help that dog find a forever home.
How it works: fill out a foster application first. Staff will review it and approve you before a dog leaves the shelter. Once you're approved, they'll match you with a dog, ask where you plan to go and about how long you'll be away, and send you out with an air tag and contact tag on the collar. Bring your date back when you're done and tell us how the adventure went.
Start with the foster application at hslclincoln.org/forms/foster-home-application, or call the shelter at (217) 737-4042.

The Humane Society of Logan County is proud to recognize Diane and Mick Turner as our June Volunteers of the Month!
Diane and Mick are always ready to lend a helping hand whenever it is needed. They have dedicated countless hours to maintaining and beautifying our Forever Home Cemetery, helping create a peaceful place to honor the people and pets who hold a special place in our hearts. Their hard work landscaping the shelter grounds has also made HSLC more welcoming for visitors, volunteers, and the animals in our care.
Their generosity does not stop there. Diane and Mick are familiar faces at many of our biggest fundraising events, volunteering their time at the Annual Garage Sale, Flower Basket Sale, Holiday Bake Sale, and Pawlidaze Christmas Sale. Their willingness to pitch in behind the scenes plays an important role in helping these events succeed.
Volunteers like Diane and Mick make a lasting difference through their kindness and dedication. We are grateful for everything they do for the Humane Society of Logan County and the animals we serve.
Congratulations, Diane and Mick, and thank you for being such an important part of the HSLC family!

We are raffling off a beautiful handmade quilt to benefit the animals of the Humane Society of Logan County!
Illinois Treasures is a one-of-a-kind traveling quilt, about 42 by 56 inches, lovingly handmade and donated by Debbie Prater.
Raffle tickets are 1 dollar each, or 6 for 5 dollars, and all proceeds benefit HSLC. You can buy tickets at the shelter during open hours, or catch us at events throughout the year, including the Rides and Rescues Car Show, the Putts 4 Pets Golf Outing, Pawlidaze at Vinegar Hill, and our Holiday Cookie Box and Bake Sale.
